SMART Moves

Programs

SMART Moves (Skills Mastery And Resilience Training) is a nationally recognized program, held at both our Wayne and Pequannock Clubs, that encourages our members to focus on their nutrition, lifestyle choices, self-confidence, and overall health and wellness. The members we serve are still adjusting to social engagements, activities and healthy eating habits post COVID-19. BGCNWNJ is committed to servicing the whole child. SMART Moves allows us to create opportunities for our communities’ youth to master critical life skills to stay safe and healthy in today’s challenging environment.  Through this program, our staff is trained to support each child's emotional, physical, and social needs in a structured and effective way.

The SMART Moves Program introduces a behavioral health approach to support healthy decision-making. Young people need peer support and viable solutions that enhance their life skills, build their resiliency, improve their health, and strengthen their leadership skills.  SMART Move activities are designed to apply decision-making skills to health behaviors, use effective communication skills to talk about health behaviors, as well as learn how to avoid peer pressure and resist alcohol tobacco, and other drugs.  SMART Moves focuses on building foundational social-emotional skills and creates a positive view of the child’s personal future.

BGCNWNJ is uniquely positioned to positively affect the lives of the youth we serve. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s youth have access to quality programs, like SMART Moves & Triple Play, that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.
